100 Dual Level 2 stations to be installed in 50 locations throughout New York

LOS ANGELES, CA, March 8, 2017 – EV Connect, a leading provider of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging solutions, including development of the industry’s most innovative, robust and open cloud-based software platform for managing the EV charging ecosystem, today announced that it will install and manage approximately 200 EV charging ports in 50 locations throughout New York State funded through an award by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

The installations support Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Charge NY program, which is accelerating the growth of the electric vehicle market in New York State through education, research, consumer outreach and financial support for the installation of charging stations across New York.

In addition to installing the charging ports, EV Connect will conduct marketing and outreach programs to local communities and manage an innovative financing component to make installing EV charging stations more economically viable for site owners., EV Connect will also provide management of the charging ecosystem, which includes the charging stations, host locations, electric utility interaction and the driver experience.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) awarded $1.4 million to EV Connect to implement these initiatives. EV Connect will also work with the New York Power Authority and Skyview Ventures on various aspects of the program.

John B. Rhodes, President and CEO, NYSERDA, said “These projects will help New York meet Governor Cuomo’s clean transportation goals and reduce emissions in the transportation sector. Increasing the use of electric vehicles is critical to New York’s nation leading energy strategy, ensuring a cleaner environment for all New Yorkers.”

“EV Connect has been a large provider of EV charging stations throughout New York State for many years through programs sponsored by NYSERDA and other entities”, said Jordan Ramer, EV Connect CEO. “This award enables us to continue to greatly expand our presence within the State. EV Connect’s deep experience in the management of the entire EV ecosystem will continue to provide an efficient, reliable and easy-to-use experience for the communities, utilities and drivers.”

The hardware and software used in this project will be built on an open standards-based architecture.  EV Connect is the nation’s largest and most successful provider of an open standards-based platform for EV charging.  This NYSERDA award follows the recent California Energy Commission (CEC) grant to EV Connect to complete key routes of the West Coast Electric Highway.

By | Press Releases | No Comments

Represents one of the largest utility contracts in the industry and will advance demand management technologies associated with EV charging

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 26, 2016 – EV Connect, a leading provider of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging solutions, including development of the industry’s most innovative, robust and open cloud-based software platform for managing the EV charging ecosystem, today announced that it has been awarded a $4 million contract from the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to install and manage approximately 300 additional Level 2 EV charging stations throughout New York State.  This follows a contract that NYPA awarded to EV Connect three years ago for a public charging station pilot program within the State.  In addition, this is the second contract EV Connect has been awarded within New York State within the past 30 days – the other being from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).  EV Connect will provide management of the charging ecosystem, which includes the charging stations, host locations, electric utility interaction and the driver experience.

The NYPA contract supports Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Charge NY Initiative which aims to create a statewide network of up to 3,000 charging stations in New York State by 2018.

In 2013, EV Connect was chosen to install and manage over 100 charging stations throughout New York State. For this expanded program, EV Connect will partner with GE and EV Box to provide the charging stations, and local contractors for installation work.

“EV Connect is honored to have been awarded this follow-on contract from the New York Power Authority, as it recognizes the success of the existing program and the value we bring to the entire EV ecosystem within New York State”, said Jordan Ramer, EV Connect CEO. “When combined with the recent program from NYSERDA, this award enables us to greatly expand our presence within the State, further utilize our utility demand response technologies, and enhance the EV charging solutions we provide to site hosts and drivers. EV Connect’s deep experience in the management of the entire EV ecosystem will continue to provide an efficient, reliable and easy-to-use experience for the communities, utilities and drivers.”

Central to NYPA’s award is a requirement that the hardware and software be built on an open standards-based architecture.  EV Connect is the nation’s largest and most successful provider of an open standards-based platform for EV charging.

“This contract award enables the New York Power Authority to continue its support of Governor Cuomo’s Charge New York Initiative to promote the adoption of electric vehicles for consumers and fleets”, said Gil C. Quiniones, NYPA President and CEO. “We are looking forward to working with EV Connect again on this successful partnership to expand the number of charging stations throughout New York State.”

EV Connect Launches First-Ever EV Charging-as-a-Service

By | Press Releases | No Comments

Stations start at $99/month with pay-as-you go financing, all-in-one management

LOS ANGELES CA, September 17, 2015 – EV Connect, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, including development of the industry’s most innovative cloud-based software platform for managing the EV charging eco-system, today announced the first-ever “EV Charging-as-a-Service” or “EV CaaS”, to cut up-front costs and simplify the process for purchasing and installing EV charging station infrastructure by turning the purchase decision from a capital expenditure to an operating expense.

In collaboration with GE and SparkFund, the EV CaaS program starts at $99 per month per charge station port (not including installation), which includes GE’s full line of WattStationTM and DuraStationTM EV charging stations, and EV Connect’s base management software and service. The new EV CaaS service offers business owners and government entities a full-service resource to assist with financing, deployment and management of EV charging solutions. EV Connect has also launched an online resource for customers at www.EVCaaS.com

“The single biggest hesitation facility owners have when considering EV charging station installation is up-front cost”, said Jordan Ramer, EV Connect President. “The EV CaaS program, in collaboration with SparkFund and GE, offers a pay-as-you go alternative to capital purchases and greatly simplifies the decision-making process.”

EV Connect is the first EV solution provider to offer a turn-key solution from procurement to installation to EV payment management and maintenance as an operating expense without up-front capital investment. The solution is powered by SparkFund financing and EV Connect’s management software. In addition to handling the procurement, installation and permitting, EV Connect will manage all aspects of the charging station ecosystem and service, including driver support, station management and usage.

“Welcome to a new world of financing for EV charging infrastructure,” said Pier LaFarge, SparkFund Co-founder and CEO. “EV CaaS puts EV charging within reach of any facility by shifting financing from an upfront capital expenditures to a pay-over-time operating expense.”

Earlier this year, EV Connect entered into a joint marketing and product agreement with GE to provide customers with GE’s highly reliable charge stations, EV Connect’s robust management platform, and the efficient interoperability between all of the components.

“This new turn-key financing solution will further the effort to provide cost-effective solutions to enable EV charging networks to grow,” said Seth Cutler, Senior Product Manager, Growth Initiatives for GE’s Industrial Solutions business. “The industry is increasingly looking for a simplified, cost-effective and efficient approach to building an EV charging infrastructure which includes ongoing service for this equipment.”

The North American EV charging market is a growing but underserved industry segment. Navigant Research estimates annual U.S. plug-in EV sales will exceed 1.1 million annually by 2024, up from 133,000 in 2014. IHS estimates over one million chargers were deployed in 2014 and forecasts this will grow to 12.7 million chargers by the end of this decade.
