Why are you upgrading the EV Connect charge station management platform?

The number of charge stations and drivers using EV Connect’s network have more than doubled in the past year alone. Because of the increased usage, we are upgrading our network to a platform that will continue to scale and provide the best possible charge station experience for both drivers and station hosts. Our new platform will also enable us to provide exciting new enhancements and features, such as vehicle and utility grid integrations, to help hosts more efficiently manage their electricity usage. Other features will ultimately help drivers and charge station hosts move to a greener future and reduce their carbon footprint even more.

When is the platform transition taking place?

Network updates will occur on Saturday morning, June 3rd, and will take approximately 4 hours to complete.  During that time, EV Connect charging stations will not function.

Will drivers still be able to use the charge stations during the platform transition?

No.  During the upgrade process on Saturday morning, June 3rd, for approximately four hours, the EV Connect charging stations will not function.

Do drivers need to download and install a new EV Connect mobile app?

Yes, this transition to an entirely different software platform requires the mobile app to undergo a number of changes to seamlessly and efficiently work with the new network.

Once the new network is live on Saturday, June 3rd, drivers will need to download and install the new EV Connect mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

After they install the new EV Connect mobile app, they will need to re-enter their credit card information in their EV Connect account. This is necessary in order to secure and protect the driver’s credit card information, which EV Connect does not store it in a form which can be migrated to the new mobile app.  As such, drivers will need to re-enter this information in the new mobile app and platform.  We’re sorry for this inconvenience, but it entirely for the protection of their credit card information – which we know that appreciates.  If the charge station host the driver uses does not require payment to charge, they do not need to have a credit card in their account.

The new EV Connect mobile app and updated credit card information (if applicable) will both be required to charge your vehicle after the upgrade weekend.

Why do I need to re-enter my credit card information?

The driver’s credit card safety, privacy and security are always our top concerns, and because we are upgrading to a new charge station management platform, all of their account information, except for your credit card information, will automatically be moved to the new platform and mobile app.

What if the charge station doesn’t work with or without the new app after the upgrade?

If the charge stations require the mobile app or key fob to operate after the upgrade on the morning of  Saturday, June 3rd and your EV Connect mobile app will not activate the charge station, you should do the following:

  1. Make sure you have downloaded and installed the new EV Connect mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  1. Confirm that you have re-entered your credit card information into the new app (if your site host requires payment for charging your vehicle).

You won’t be able to operate the charge stations until you do both of those things.
