What is the Connecticut EV Charging Program?

Eversource and United Illuminating (UI) are offering the Connecticut (CT) EV Charging program to incentivize the installation of EV charging equipment, including: Level 2 charging stations and Direct current fast chargers (DCFCs) for light-duty EVs. The goal of the program is to support the development of EV infrastructure to accommodate increased EV adoption in Connecticut by offering rebates to offset equipment and installation costs associated with EV charging stations. The CT EV Charging Program is available for all commercial and industrial Eversource and UI electric service customers.

Program Highlights:

  • Program enrollment began in January 2022 and will end in 2024 or until rebate funds have exhausted.

What are the Rebate Amounts?

  • Rebate amount will be either 50% of eligible electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) charger costs plus 100% eligible make-ready installation costs of the Per Site Maximum Rebate, ranging from $20,000 - $150,000, with higher rebate amounts ranging from $40,000 - $250,000 per site maximum for properties located in an Undeserved Community (also known as Disadvantaged Community).

  • United Illuminating Business Customers can use their Undeserved Communities and Load Maps to assist with qualifications and incentive details

What are the Program Requirements?

  • Eligible locations Include: Multifamily, Public, and Workplace Properties and must be commercial and industrial electric customers of Eversource or UI.

  • Minimum Number of Ports to Qualify for Funding (based on location type):

    • Multifamily Properties: Must install at least 2 ports

    • Public: Must install at least 2 Ports

    • Workplace Properties: Must install at least 4 ports

    • For Any Property Installing DCFC chargers: Must install at least 2 ports
