Available Incentives for Your Business

New York State offers several EV charging incentive and rebate programs to help offset the cost of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) and installation. Depending on your location, utility provider, and project use-case, you may seek funding from one or more of the following utilities and government agencies:

  • 1.) What is the Charge Ready New York 2.0 Program?

    The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is offering incentives to public, private, and not-for-profit organizations that install Level 2 EV charging stations at workplaces, multifamily or public facilities that are owned and operated by municipal or state government entities.

    2.) What are the incentive amounts available?

    NYSERDA will provide incentives on a per-port basis, based on location type and whether or not it is located within a Disadvantaged Community (DAC):

    • $4,000 per charging port installed at a public facility within a DAC,

    • $2,000 per charging port installed at a workplace or MUD location

    • $2,500 per charging port installed at a workplace or MUD location within a DAC.

    *Please note: an additional $500 per port may be awarded for eligible charging equipment installed at a workplace or MUD location if located within a DAC. Disadvantaged communities can be found on NYSERDA’s website.

    3.) What are the program requirements?

    Charging station owners must install charging stations that have been approved by NYSERDA and are listed on the Charge Ready NY 2.0 Eligible Charging Equipment and Networks list. Charging stations must be installed at an eligible New York State location that meets the requirements in the section above and in the Implementation Manual. Charging stations must be installed after the Program's Effective Date and must remain in operation for at least five years.

  • What is the NY EV Make-Ready Program?

    Joint Utilities of New York such as: Central Hudson Gas and Electric, Con Edison, New York State Electric & Gas Corporation, National Grid, Orange and Rockland Utilities, and Rochester Gas and Electric are offering rebates for Level 2 and DCFC charging station across the state of New York. The goal of the program is to support infrastructure and equipment to accommodate EV adoption in New York by reducing the upfront costs of EV charging installation.

    Program Highlights:

    • $701 million of available funding to support EV charging infrastructure (however, $206 million must directly disadvantaged communities).

    • 65,000 chargers to be deployed by 2025.

    What are the Rebate Amounts?

    • Approved applications will be eligible for up to 50% - 90% of EV charging equipment and installation costs, while locations in disadvantaged communities are eligible for up to 100% of EV charging equipment and installation costs.

    What are the Program Requirements?

    • Eligible locations include: Multifamily, Public Sector, Workplace and Destination Properties

    • Must install at least 2 ports to qualify for the program.


New York State Tax Credit for Public and Workplace Charging

This New York State Electric Vehicle tax credit provides up to $5,000 off your taxes for purchase and installation of a new EV charging station. The rebate is currently funded through 2022.

NYSDEC Municipal Rebate Program

This rebate applies to the purchase of EVs as well as to the purchase and installation of EV charging stations. *Please note: the NYSDEC Municipal Rebate Grants are available to municipalities (counties, cities, towns, and villages of the State of New York) only.
