EV charging network migration is the process of moving your existing EV chargers from their current charging station management system (CSMS) or network provider to a new platform like EV Connect’s.

Most migrations are completed within 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the number and type of chargers, hardware compatibility and data transfer needs. EV Connect minimizes disruption by performing much of the work remotely and scheduling any on-site activity during off-peak hours.

In many cases, yes—especially if your chargers are OCPP-compliant and on supported firmware. We assess hardware compatibility up front and recommend whether to reuse your chargers as-is, update firmware and configuration or replace them if necessary.

Most drivers won’t notice any disruption. We schedule migrations during off-peak hours, perform remote updates whenever possible, and send technicians onsite only when needed. Each batch of chargers typically takes about 15 minutes to migrate, minimizing overall downtime.

It depends on what your current provider makes available. Where data export is possible, we’ll work with you to bring over key elements such as user accounts, tariffs and usage history. If data access is restricted, we’ll help you design a clear transition plan so drivers and site hosts understand the change.

Level 2 charging uses a 240-volt power source—the same as many household appliances—and provides 20–30 miles of range per hour of charging. It’s the most common type of charger found at workplaces, retail centers and multi-unit dwellings.

Level 3, or DC Fast Charging (DCFC), uses direct current power to charge vehicles much faster—typically 100+ miles of range in 20–30 minutes—depending on vehicle capacity and station power output.

Level 3 DC Fast Charging delivers much higher power—typically 50–400 kW—allowing most EVs to add 100–200 miles of range in about 20–30 minutes. Level 2 charging provides 3–19 kW and usually takes several hours to deliver a similar amount of range. DC Fast Charging is ideal for quick stops and long-distance travel, while Level 2 is better suited for workplaces, multifamily properties and overnight charging.

To choose the right fast charger, start by ensuring it matches your EV’s connector type (NACS, CCS, or CHAdeMO). Then check your vehicle’s maximum DC Fast Charging rate, since your car—not the charger—determines how quickly it can charge. You can also compare station features such as reliability, pricing, speed availability (50–350 kW) and network coverage to find the most convenient option for your travel needs.

The J1772 connector is used for Level 1 and Level 2 charging and is found on almost all non-Tesla EVs in North America. It’s the plug you’ll use for everyday charging at home or at most public Level 2 stations.

CCS (Combined Charging System) includes the same J1772 pins plus two additional ones that allow for DC Fast Charging. If your EV has a CCS port, you can use both Level 2 J1772 chargers and DC Fast Chargers.

Yes, you can use an adapter in many situations, but it depends on your vehicle and the type of charging. For Level 2 charging, adapters such as J1772 → Tesla or Tesla → J1772 are commonly used and generally safe when they are certified.

For DC Fast Charging, adapters are more limited and must be approved by your vehicle manufacturer. Always check your EV’s manual or manufacturer website, and avoid non-certified adapters—they may be unsafe or damage your vehicle.

Most new electric vehicles no longer use the CHAdeMO plug, as it’s being phased out in favor of the CCS and NACS standards.

However, many existing charging stations maintain the CHAdeMO connector for these legacy vehicles, and EV Connect’s charging solutions can integrate CHAdeMO-compatible stations into our management platform, providing seamless operation and real-time data for diverse EV ecosystems.

Yes. Most EV Connect stations use the J1772 connector, which is compatible with Tesla vehicles using the appropriate adapter. Many DC Fast Chargers also include a CCS connector that works with the Tesla North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter.

Yes, just link your EV Connect and GM accounts—then activate Plug and Charge in the GM app. Plug in at supported stations and your sessions start automatically.

You’ll find both Level 2 and DC Fast Charging stations across the EV Connect Network. We support industry-standard connectors used by nearly all EVs—so you can plug in with confidence.

Use the EV Connect app to locate your charger, scan the QR code on the station and tap “Start Charge.” To end your session, select “Stop Charge” in the app. You can also end charging directly on some stations by pressing the stop button.

Some sites may set idle fees or parking restrictions to encourage charger availability. Check posted signage or app notifications for details about post-charging parking limits.

If you experience issues, please call the 24/7 support number listed on the charger, or contact EV Connect support directly through the app. Our team can run remote diagnostics and, if necessary, dispatch a technician.

Log into your EV Connect account on the web portal, go to “My Account” and select “Add RFID.” Enter the RFID number found on the back of your key fob, then save your changes.

Many businesses and public locations offer free EV charging as an amenity. Roaming allows EV drivers to use charging stations across different networks with one account. Through roaming partnerships, EV Connect users can access thousands of additional public chargers without creating multiple accounts.

Roaming stations are chargers on networks operated by our roaming partners. They’re integrated into the EV Connect app so you can locate, start and pay for sessions without switching apps or accounts.

Pricing for roaming stations is set by the station’s owner or the roaming partner that operates the network—not EV Connect. You’ll see the cost before starting a session in the app.

EV Connect does not add fees beyond the price displayed in the app. However, some roaming partners’ networks may include nominal roaming or session fees—these are shown transparently before you begin charging.

Open the EV Connect app and enable “Show Roaming Stations” in the filter options. Partner locations will appear alongside EV Connect stations on the map.

Simply select the roaming station in the EV Connect app and tap “Start Charge.” You can pay with your existing EV Connect payment method—no need for additional apps.

No, RFID cards currently work only on the EV Connect Network. Use the app to initiate sessions at roaming locations.

Not all roaming partners support QR-based activation. If scanning doesn’t work, locate the station in the EV Connect app and start your session directly from the map view.

If you can’t start a session or encounter an issue, first contact EV Connect’s driver support team through our app or by calling the number listed. If the station belongs to a roaming partner, we’ll coordinate with that network’s support staff to reach a resolution.

Only essential session data—such as transaction details, start/stop times and usage metrics—is shared securely to enable interoperability and billing. EV Connect does not share your personal information or payment data.

No. To ensure fair access for all drivers, only one active reservation is allowed per account.

If you reserved a charger but didn’t start a session within the allotted time, a small penalty fee may apply. This helps keep chargers available for other drivers.

Yes, just link your EV Connect and GM accounts—then activate Plug and Charge in the GM app. Plug in at supported stations and your sessions start automatically.

If your GM vehicle supports Plug and Charge, simply enroll through the GM app or OnStar account. Once activated, you can plug in at participating EV Connect stations and billing will occur automatically—no app or RFID needed.

Yes. Receipts are available through your GM app or EV Connect account, depending on how your session was initiated.
